LEICESTERSHIRE TEAMS DO WELL IN REGIONAL FINAL - GOLD FOR AGE 8/9 TEAM

Leicestershire did the best they have for some time in coming 2nd overall in the Regional final of the floor and vault championships, held in Spalding on Sunday April 26th 2009. Previous years have seen some poor results and last year we couldn't produce a 14+ team. To see a full set of teams entering this year and doing so well for the County has been a great achievement and improvement.

All girls competed earlier in the year at a county qualifying competition, so to make the final was an achievement in itself (see results page for qualifying scores)

Our 8/9 year olds showed great hope for the future by taking the gold team medal in this age group with Charlotte Law winning individual gold and Phoebie Bakewell individual bronze. Alannah Hartley and Maddie Pipes the other team members finished in the top 6. Reserve Grace Mikhael achieved a top 6 score also. All girls in this team train at Hinckley & Burbage gymnastic club.

Our 10/11 team of Rhianna Modi , Molly Mee, Natasha Elks, Angel Sutherland and reserve Millie Tye narrowly failed to make the medals, but all put in good performances,. This team is made up from gymnasts from RATAE and Hinckley & Burbage.

Our 12/13 team of Hinckley & Burbage gym club gymnasts, Corinne Tomsett, Rosie Shaw, Jade Toms Charlotte Hancock and reserve Kim Inott brought home the Silver team medal with Corinne Tomsett also winning the silver individual medal in this age group.

Our 14+ team of Aisha El-Ahmar, Evie Grewcock, Leonie Etchells, Danielle Lindsay and reserve Nicola Walker took the bronze team medal. Gymnasts in this team were from Greenbank, Coalville and RATAE.
